Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Ortochem collects and uses personal data when you visit ortochem.com or contact us. We process personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Croatian law.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The controller of your personal data is Ortochem (company registration in progress). For any question about this policy or your data, contact us at info@ortochem.com.

2. What data we collect

Enquiry form and email. When you send an enquiry through our contact form or by email, we receive the information you provide: your name, company name, email address, country, the product or application you are interested in, your message, and how you heard about us.

Technical data. When you visit the website, our hosting provider automatically processes technical data needed to deliver the site and keep it secure, such as your IP address, browser type and the time of the request, in server logs.

Cookies. We do not set cookies for visitors. See our Cookie Policy.

We do not use analytics, advertising or social media tracking on this website.

2a. Business contacts we reach out to

We contact companies and institutions that may need water analysis equipment, such as food producers, water utilities, hotels and private healthcare facilities. To do this, we collect the business contact details of people whose role is related to water quality, laboratory work or purchasing: name, job title, company, business email address and business phone number.

We collect these details from publicly available sources, mainly the company’s own website, public business registers and professional networks such as LinkedIn, or from a colleague who has referred us. We do not buy contact lists.

We use these details only to introduce Ortochem, to ask whether our products may be useful to you, and to follow up on that conversation. We will not send you more than two follow-up emails if you do not reply.

If you do not want us to contact you, reply to any of our emails or write to info@ortochem.com, and we will stop immediately. We keep a short note of your request (your email address and the date) so that we do not contact you again.

3. Why we use your data and on what legal basis

  • To answer your enquiry and prepare a quote: necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
  • To manage an existing business relationship, including orders, delivery and invoicing: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) and compliance with legal obligations such as accounting and tax rules (Art. 6(1)(c)).
  • To operate and secure the website: our legitimate interest in a functioning, secure website (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • To contact businesses about our products (section 2a): our legitimate interest in introducing our products to businesses for which they are relevant (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time, and we will stop contacting you.

We do not sell your personal data and do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.

4. Who we share data with

We only share personal data with service providers who help us run the website and our communication, and only as far as needed:

  • Web hosting: Hostinger, which hosts this website and its server logs.
  • Email: our email service provider, which receives and stores messages sent to us.

These providers process data on our behalf under data processing agreements or their own terms. Where a provider transfers data outside the European Economic Area, the transfer is protected by an adequacy decision or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. We may also disclose data where required by law, for example to tax authorities.

5. How long we keep your data

  • Enquiries that do not lead to a business relationship: up to 2 years after our last contact.
  • Data related to quotes, orders and invoices: for the period required by Croatian accounting and tax legislation (generally 11 years).
  • Business contact details collected for outreach (section 2a): up to 2 years after our last contact, unless a business relationship starts. If you ask us not to contact you, we delete your details and keep only your email address and the date of your request, so that we respect it.
  • Server logs: according to our hosting provider’s standard retention, usually no longer than a few weeks.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its processing, and receive it in a portable format. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. To exercise any of these rights, email info@ortochem.com. We will respond within one month.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Croatian supervisory authority, the Personal Data Protection Agency (Agencija za zaštitu osobnih podataka, AZOP, azop.hr), or with the authority in your EU country of residence.

7. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to this website and restricted access to enquiry emails.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services or legal requirements change. The current version is always published on this page, with the date of the last update at the top.
